Most of us know the Chinese proverb:

“Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.”

I think a modern variation on this theme might be:

“Feed a man a fish you feed him for today. Teach him how to fish and he will wonder why you want him to work.”
