Black Friday Place Holder

Black Friday Place Holder

I’ve lived a sheltered life.  I’ll admit it until four years ago I had never heard the term “Black Friday”  Like the boy that asked his dad “What was so Great about the Great Depression”?  I have to ask what is it that makes Black Friday Black?  Is it the black hole created in wallets and pocketbooks from spending on that day?

One year I was invited to get up at 3:30 am and go out for Black Friday Shopping.  My job, get in line and stay there.  It didn’t matter that I didn’t have anything to purchase, I was “The Place Holder”  the shoppers would then run (figuratively speaking, yeah right) around the store scooping up bargains and bringing them to the “Place holder”.  If I made my way to the register too fast it was my duty to ring out, take the packages to the car and get back in line.  Yes, back at the end of the line halfway around the store.

I resigned from this position after only one day on the job.  It is my intention to never again go shopping on Black Friday, which is worse than any Friday the 13th I’ve ever experienced.

Yes, It was another McDonald’s morning and this time we went to the one in the new Walmart at the Oro Valley Marketplace. This is the famous Walmart, because there was so much opposition to it coming to Oro Valley. There are some who live here that like to think Oro Valley is Scottsdale. I think it is more like Irelanddale,

I was at a friends house a couple a weekends ago. While around the dinner table (that’s the evening meal) the subject of soup came up. I don’t remember why, come to think of it, why would we talk about soup?
