I recently purchased and activated a Blackberry Curve with Alltel. I had the phone about 4 days when suddenly it stopped working. It would turn on but that was all, no calls, no email, nothing. When I bought the phone I purchased the leather belt clip case to keep it protected.
Sometimes when I slip it into the case it will hit the green button to connect a call. It will scroll the cursor up to where it can select line 1 or line 2 and when the case lid snap shut it will select line 2.
When this happens you get a 1x up in the upper right hand corner where the arrow is pointing.
click the green connect button, scroll up to the top where it says “Line” click on it and select Line 1 instead of line 2. Click the ball to make it your selection. In a very short time you should see the 1x disappear and your email and messages should start rolling in.
If by some chance this doesn’t start to happen do this:
WHILE IT IS TURNED ON remove the back cover, remove the battery. Put the battery back in, replace the cover, and turn it on. This hard reset will take a little while to reboot with a white turning hourglass, but when it does this should resolve the issue if simply changing lines didn’t do the trick.
I write this in hope that others experiencing this issue will find this post and quickly resolve the issue instead of it taking two days like it did for me while at Blogworld in Las Vegas. : )
It was the first question Tech support asked me when I got connected and it was obvious they get this call a lot.
You won’t even miss the time and it will change your day : )
